About Ownai Buyer Protect

Ownai Buyer Protect is Zimbabwe's trusted third party escrow service that safeguards the buyer's funds in trust until the seller delivers to the buyer what was agreed upon. Only once the buyer is happy with the goods or services rendered does Buyer Protect release the funds to the seller.

We are here to help parties keep their contractual obligations on any business deal. The service is designed specifically to add an extra layer of security and convenience to both the buyer and the seller, the Buyer Protect service is a neutral third party that securely holds funds upon purchase in trust until the transaction is completed.

How it works?
For Buyer
  • Buyer identifies product or service of interest on the Ownai Classifies platform
  • Buyer contacts the seller or service provider and agree on the price and condition of goods.
  • Buyer and Seller (or Supplier) agree to continue with the use of Buyer Protect.
  • Buyer proceeds to checkout and clicks on “Pay with Buyer Protect” tab.
  • Buyer will also need to tick a checkbox to confirm that they agreed with seller and proceeds to pay for goods as well as the courier fees if delivery is required.
  • Payment can be made through Ecocash, Visa or Mastercard
  • EcoCash transacions are pegged at a $500 limit per transaction including shipping

For Seller
  • The Seller (or Supplier) and Buyer agree on a price and specific product to be rendered as requested by the buyer.
  • The seller will receive order notification on the specific product and agrees to the terms and conditions of the service, then prepares it for buyer or courier to pick up if delivery option was selected.
  • Seller dispatches goods to seller or courier upon arrival.
  • Payment can be made through Ecocash, Visa or Mastercard.

Order Confirmation

When buyer makes the payment, an order confirmation notification is sent to the seller’s cell number and e-mail address. Funds are kept in the Ownai Buyer Protect safe account and will only be released to the seller after buyer has received the goods and is satisfied with their condition.

Delivery/Returns/Disputes and Cancellations

After payment was received an automated order notification is sent to the selected courier. The courier collects from seller only during office hours and delivers goods to buyers selected address.

Upon delivery, the buyer should check that everything is in order. The buyer then either signs the courier delivery note (from the courier company delivering goods). The buyer is given 48 hours of dispute if not satisfied with the goods delivered.

Fees and Settlements

If accepted, Buyer protect releases the reserved payment to the seller - minus our transaction and handling fees. If rejected, the buyer simply returns it to the seller by own means and the buyer’s money is refunded after the seller received the item back in the original condition. Cancellation fees will be charged to the defaulting party either the buyer, seller or courier depending on the dispute.

Closing Orders

If satisfied with goods delivered the buyer will initiate and close the transaction then Buyer Protect will release funds to the seller. If buyer delays or forgets to close the transaction after 48 hours, Buyer Protect is obligated to release funds to the seller.
