General Safety Advice

  • When buying or selling, you should meet in-person. Meet in a public place with many people around (e.g. EcoCash Stand or by an Econet Shop).
  • Thoroughly inspect the product and then exchange funds.
  • As a safe alternative to carrying cash or reducing fraud by the buyer or seller, consider using Ownai Buyer Protect. This service will only release money when both parties are happy.
  • Use common sense. If something sounds too good to be true- it probably is.
  • Inform Ownai of any attempted fraud or other suspicious activity by Ownai users. In the case of fraud, file a police report and contact us.
